Self Build ICF "Lite Deck "

Self build house ICF and Timber Frame construction
Computer generated pictures of what the house will look like.
This stage of the house is following the construction of the house building in a new energy efficient construction called ICF "Insulated Concrete Form" but their roof system called Lite Deck Selfbuildinnovations are going to follow the build in a diary format from start to finish so keep coming back to see every stage of building.

Reinforced concrete flat roof constructed in 7 days The company who provided these blocks and roof system are Polysteel
Day 1 The Lite Deck arrives in ar-tic lorry converted toflat back for ease. The lite deck is polystyrene beams to fix onto the flat roof of the building
Emptying the ar-tic with Lite Deck

Measuring the wall ready to fix panel jack system to the wall for the lite deck to rest on
Screwing the panel jack system ready for the lite deck to rest onto it

Panel jack is inserted in intervals round the structure
Lite deck is manually lifted by to guys on the roof

Panel deck lay ed into position on panel jacks underneath which are screwed into the walls
This picture shows everything the silver panel jacks on the wall, the lite deck lying onto the panel jacks, the icf blocks with rebar and poured concrete into them ready to tie into the roof system

Peri bracing system arrives a fork lift is needed to lift the bracing system off.The peri bracing system braces up the lite deck, reinforced beams, mesh, rebar and concrete up for 28 days after pouring the roof
Wooden beams for peri system to support ceiling

Peri prop system

Erecting peri scaffolding

Fixing the bars to the Peri system to keep it together
Very easy to assemble the top system(which looks like a hand and fingers on top of the yellow prop)on the top of the peri system which holds the big wooded batons which holds the roof

Lite deck positioned on roof
Peri beams held up by the peri system ready for lite deck to be layed on top of the beams

The house is going to have an atrium which is basically a double heighten ceiling which has to be shuttered with plywood for when the concrete floor is poured to stop concrete falling through
The peri props are in place with the support beams ready for lite deck

Bracing underneath thee atrium. The whole ground floor is like a maze with the peri system holding the lite deck system up
Lite deck placed on top of the propping system by peri

Lite deck supported below by the peri system
Very easy to work on once in place and braced properly

Atrium shuttered with plywood other lite deck going down
Very easy to use a handsaw is perfect
Atrium shuttered working on the next room
Lift shaft shuttered

Winding peri system with a piece of rebar up to height so the beam can fit into it
Channel made into the wall so the concrete when poured goes onto the lite deck tying the wall and roof together

Plastic clips to place rebar in
Plastic clips keep rebar in place

Rebar at 90 degrees fits into the icf blocks tying everything together
Structural beam inserted to give litedeck roof system strength

90 degree rebar is inserted all round the roof area to tie the roof into the walls
All the lite deck in place ready for more rebar and mesh

Prefabricated beams for round the atrium
Inserting prefabricated beam on one side of the atrium

Crane lowering prefabricated beam in position
Prefabricated beam lowered on other side of atrium

Close up picture of prefabricated beam
Crane lifting rebar onto roof ready to insert into lite deck

Blowing polystyrenefrom channeled section where lengths of rebar are inserted
Crane lifting sheets of mesh for the roof

Birds eye view from the crane nearly full building except part of the pool wing
Birds eye view from the crane pool side

Para pit wall built all the way round top floor, mesh placed all over the floor
Round pipe is for drainage all the way round the flat roof

Mesh all over the floor with rebar inserted into channels in the lite deck
Channeled in polystyrenere bar with mesh above waiting for concrete to be poured

Para pit wall completed all around the 2nd floor
Floating off the top of the para pit wall after concrete pour

Concrete poured onto the mesh and power floated to a smooth finish
Pouring concrete on mesh

Tampering the concrete with a long piece of wood to make it level
Leveling concrete with big stick. Two people have hold of the ends and gently chop up and down on the surface which in time levels the concrete, then power float

Leveling concrete above the living room
Lift shaft and atrium shuttering

Power floated around areas where shuttering was constructed
Looking towards the swimming pool

The shuttering around the atrium will come out leaving room for double height ed ceiling
Finished floor power floated

Finished Polysteel house,do you know this house is bullet proof, hurricaneproof and earthquake proof.
This house was constructed in 16 days
